Today marked the second day of the inaugural Polaris RZR UTV World Championship presented by UTVUnderground.com, including the SXSPerformance.com Family Poker Run, Registration, Contingency and Tech. We were lucky to have fantastic weather all day, nothing better than sunshine and blue skies for contingency for the largest UTV race to date.   All the race cars were gleaming and the fans were smiling as they walked around and examined the different vendor setup.

The SXSPerformance.com Family Poker Run in the morning ran into some initial registration problems but they were handled quickly and in the end the Poker Run was open to everyone who wanted to participate. Turnout was fantastic and families traveled from all over the country for the ride. Five lucky winners took home prizes ranging from light bars to exhaust systems to tires and shocks!

It’s always fun to walk the aisles of Contingency and catch up with friends and colleagues, and it was especially exciting to see quite a few newly finished race cars. We are thrilled to have over 120 UTVs signed up to participate in the Walker Evans Racing Desert Championship and Holz Racing Products Production Championship! The colorful parade of race cars through vendor row and tech lasted for hours because of the killer driver turnout. This gave all the race fans and families a chance to make it over from the Poker Run and get their fill. Many of UTV racing’s top drivers were also on hand this afternoon to sign autographs and hand out posters. Jagged X even put on a clinic about how to get into professional UTV racing.

There was certainly no shortage of things to see thanks to the awesome sponsors and vendors that jumped on board to support the Polaris RZR UTV World Championship. Most of the top companies in the industry had a presence at this year’s event and the contingency-goers reaped the benefits.

Polaris even had factory demo rides at the race site scheduled all day and throughout the weekend so that those considering a UTV purchase or just interested in the sport could have a chance to try out the latest machines.

Things are only poised to get better from here on out as we move into the racing portion of the weekend. The sport’s top drivers are ready to do battle both in the Walker Evans Racing Desert Championship and the Holz Racing Products Production Championship.  Two lucky winners will leave with the ultimate prize of a brand new RZR XP1000! Enjoy the photos and stay tuned here and on the forums to keep up with all the latest on the biggest UTV race to date!

  1. These go carts are ruining desert racing, they’re slow, expensive, boring to watch, no skill to drive, and I’ll bet 20% of the entries won’t finish on an easy course because they all break down. Mad media is giving $ to whoever can jump 25′?!? Bunch of classless “racers” at the meeting last night as well, talking over Casey, laughing, big turnout but poor showing.

  2. UNTUG I must say great job… Hats off to you all.
First UTV World Championship under your belts and I hope for many more to come for you and all of us UTV racing fans. Not that you had an easy road this weekend, but all fires where put out and the races went on and everyone had a great time.

I don’t know if people tell you in person and I really never see it posted much, but I want to thank you for all you have done for this sport we love so much and helping to promote it like you have with the help of your team. Long hours and sleepless nights away from your family’s can not be easy week in and week out. So all I can say is ” THANK YOU ” UTVUG member Por Vida !!
