Alba Motorsports decided to hit Barona Drag-strip this last weekend and see what their Turbo Yamaha YXZ1000R UTV could do on a set of Hoosier slicks! The 2016 Yamaha YXZ1000R is highly modified and is equipped with Alba Motorsports goodies making 400+hp! With Stock dirt tires and their 400 HP Package they kept spinning the tires through 4th gear but ended up with their best of the night with 8.03 @ 89MPH. Alba Motorsports plans on going back in a few weeks to try it again! The slicks just wanted to wheelie down the track!!!
According to Alba, this UTV has made over 330 rwhp @ about 20psi. They were afraid the transmission was going to fall out of the bottom of the machine with the slicks, so we opted to try the stock tires. They started at 18psi that night, but went down to about 12-14psi to keep it from just smoking the tires.
We look forward to seeing what else Alba and machine over Dave Cardenas come up with!
