2010 Lucas Oil Season Opener!!!!

Febuary 28th, 2010 Las Vegas, NV - Season 2 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series kicks off this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV (March 6th and 7th 2010) and UTVUnderground.com will be on hand to cover all the racing action.

Unlimited UTV superstars including Robert VanBeekum, Austin Kimbrell, Tyler Winbury, RJ Anderson, and Chad George will be trading paint and busting air looking to capture the 2010 LOORRS season championship!

2010 also marks the innagural season for the new Yamaha Rhino SR1 class. Spearheaded by Weller Racing out of Arizona and adopted by LOORRS for the 2010 season these 1000cc 120+ HP Yamaha Rhino's will be putting on a show for the short course fans.

I will be there Saturday, but I have to work Sunday. Someone put a stop watch on the SR1's. I am guessing that their lap times won't be as fast as the regular UTV's. ...but I could be wrong.

I agree, I think the 800 unlimiteds will be faster in lap times, like last year showed at the one race they were on the track together.

Well, I personally think that with some seat time, when we all get used to driving our cars like they should be driven, that the SR1's will post up faster lap times than the 600 class. Ask Bobby, he might agree......mud, however.....MIGHT be a factor. Hard to beat a 4-wheel drive in the slippery stuff!

My one demo race last year isn't an accurate example - I was trying to stay out of everyone's way, and had very little seat time to begin with.

We are busy busy busy getting everything ready for this weekend - can't wait!!! :)

I am expecting between 8 and 10 cars for this first race - depending on if everyone who is busting a$$ to get their cars done can get them finished in time! :) I'm expecting around 15 for the following round......we'll see, though! Hard to anticipate the race crowd.......! :)

My impression is that Kyle's car won't be ready until round 2, but I could be wrong.
I think all the UTVs are running together on the track at the same time again.

Looks like we are in for a huge treat this weekend at Lucas Oil! There are rumors floating around the off road world regarding TORC and the upcoming 2010 season. Due to these rumors and due to the fact that the first TORC race is still some time away it appears that a large ammount of TORC drivers and teams will be on hand to compete!

I wont drop names yet because nothing is official but this weekends truck and buggy races could be the largest and most competitive fields we have seen since the days of CORR!

Out at speed world the sr1's were turning a 1.05 sec lap and the top guys all turn 1.02 lap in the 600 class but i heard Dan Kelly was almost a half lap ahead of everyone else dont know his times

I believe as the these guys get familiar with their SR1's they will be faster but track conditions will play a roll...I also think we may see SR1's and Unlimiteds running seperatly...FINGERS CROSSED!

If you are comparing to last year, it's not accurate.....this track was a few seconds longer than the last Lucas Oil race - and the moguls this race were BRUTAL - all dug out and holes everywhere....nothing like last season.

And yeah, I call it the 600 class because of the numbers....I am not even sure what the name of the regular UTV class is this year? Unlimited UTV, I think?
