How NOT to Drive A UTV in a public setting! WATCH THIS VIDEO

So since I was banned for pointing out this complete disregard for safety on another site here is something I want to share that I hope NO ONE else does. This is bad for the sport, and should something have gone wrong here it could COST US ALL our love of the hobby. Remember, these are off highway vehicles, and while a top speed run on black top is all good it should only be done on private roads or in a controlled environment. If being done on public roads as it is here it should be done in a REGISTERED and LICENSED vehicle and on a road that allows the speeds being traveled. The video below will show an overly excited new owner of a new XP900 driving like a complete moron to try and show off for a camera. While we are all guilty of doing bonehead things from time to time we should use this video below as an example of what not to do. Again, our sport is walking a fine line and we need to be responsible individuals to preserve it for future generations.

Notice that the XP is a Fast and AWESOME machine, but do you think you should be going 70mph in a 35mph zone? What would happen if a car pulled out here, we are one lawsuit away from losing our sport folks. These are designed for off highway use....I am also positive the culprit here did not have a helmet on...What is he thinking?

Notice here the same driver, Frank here is ripping around with no care of another vehicle coming into the parking lot. You can hear another car honking at him for driving like a moron. You can also see the skills he has, which aren't much, he looks out of control going 10mph.


In all I am calling this to attention because this guy is really putting our community at risk, not to mention his life, but it is clear that he does not care about the potential ramifications should he hurt someone else or himself for driving like a tool on public streets and in parking lots nonetheless.

Yeah it appears that mr. FJK Frank who is a "super moderator" at the rzr forum is trying to save his butt again. FJK banned me for calling him out last year on his false rumor of Polaris havign 4 new frame options and 1000cc motor which he claims he got form his "Inside Polaris resource". I tried to explain that his claims were way off, so he banned me. Then he tried to share these videos shwoing the off at the Commander site, so I mentioned how it was unsafe and what do you know, banned from there now....lol

1st thing I like about this place is I don't worry about getting banned for my opinion

2nd thing I like about this place is how it is a (UTV/SXS) site... not a RZR, Commander, Rhino, Teryx,Arctic Cat site. I visit all of them and learn a little here and there and have met great people. There are a ton of knowledgeable folks on here to learn from and have owned just about one of every flavor machine and tell it how it is vs a biased point of view because its the only SXS they have owned or ridden in. Hell... how many hybrid Frankenstein machines have been posted on here.

Joey.. you made a valid point and I hear Frank is a great guy (never met him). This industry has been walking a fine line since the Rhino law suits started and it amazes me only Yamaha has been tied up in them in the spotlight while the other vendors run off with machines like the Commander and XP. If Frank would have been in an accident it would have been a whole new door opening up against Polaris and the SXS industry. I know people get excited with new toys... I do it too but you gotta step back and think and I think in hindsight Frank would agree that wasn't very smart. The fact you were banned is total BS! Keep up the good work and this site will reflect it.

I watched the parking lot video before it was made private and it did seem like he was a little hot for a parking lot in a vehicle he just got behind the seat of.

Frank is a super nice guy. I think he just got blinded by getting a new unit early in the cycle and wanted desparately to make up for his blown predictions for Model Year 2011. I was really suprised when he posted all of that when us media guys were still under embargo. He was pretty confident in his predictions and it was hard to sit back and bite my tongue.

So why not explain to me why I was banned? Was I disrespectful by pointing out the irresponsible and complete disregard for human safety here? Am I wrong to call out a SUPER MODERATOR of a site who posts videos of his reckless driving a UTV and putting all of our lively hoods and sport in jeopardy?

BTW, speeding in a registered -on-highway car or truck is one thing, but I dont care what you are driving, doing 70mph in a 35mph zone is a total ass-hat move. Not to mention doing it in a OHV not even wearing proper safety gear, shifting lanes, and crossing double yellow lines like you are above the law.

Look, yeah I got a problem with being banned for pointing our obvious safety concerns and it makes me a little butt hurt, but I got a bigger problem with people who are supposed to be pillars of our community and advocates for our sport trying to dismiss the utter dis-concern for safety that our sport seriously needs to respect right now. Lets compare apples to apples.

A speeding ticket or moving violation in a LEGAL on-road vehicle is one thing...

Driving an unregistered, non street legal, Off-road vehicle at twice the speed limit on a public highway is a whole different situation....not to mention the donuts in the parking lot.

The fact of the matter is that our industry and sport is in the limelight with concern to the eco nazis, land grabbers, and lawsuits. They will take any opportunity that they can to use something against us...this situation is a prime example.

With recent events like the Lucerne tragedy WE ALL, as a family of off-roaders, need to realize that we have to self police and when one of our brothers or sisters gets out of line, help to reel them back in and straighten them out or we will all lose the ability to do what we love!!

Recently, we lost over 8000 acres of riding area locally. Why, because of idiots that didn't follow rules, drove recklessly causing an accident and then got in a fistfight with mtn-bikers on a trail.

The OHVers were totally in the wrong, yet they screamed that they weren't out to hurt anyone, just have fun. Well, thanks to them, we lost our riding area, and are under such strong scrutiny by all law enforcement now, like we are all criminals.
Plus, we were trying to get street use of UTV's legalized in NM, but since all this, have basically been told that it probably won't happen because we don't have the support of local law enforcement.

So yes, Frank's actions, being very similar to what happened here locally, do have an effect on ALL OHVers. And it upsets me to see such calloused and ignorant thinking that what he was doing was harmless and just normal.
Joey calling him out on his actions was the right thing to do, as it's every UTVers responsibility to make sure our sport stays reasonably safe, out of the lime-light of bad attention and that we police ourselves. All it would've taken was for Frank to have an accident or run over a bystander and it would've been front page news, causing local politicians and law enforcement to scream out against those terrible OHVers and their evil machines..

We feature way more enthusiast based news then racing, I just like to have fresh relevant information and racing is a large part of our sport and deserves its fair amount of coverage. Plus there is always cool stories and pictures! hahahahah

If we want to see our kids enjoy our sport we need to begin now to preserve it. Driving like tools on public streets is going to get us all shut down. Yes Gary I do have a perfect driving record on the street...
and as with a lot of other peeps we are all fighting to keep our riding areas open
and I admit I didn't see the video before FJK made it private, but if he made it private then there must be a reason or something in that video he doesn't want the world to see.

Gary, it's no secret that Frank does a lot for the UTV community but here is where I see the problem. What Frank does is great for the members of the forums and the people who enjoy the sport....no outside party will be influenced by what Frank, or anyone else for that matter, does like donating parts or holding large dinners and rides. None of that will ever matter when it comes to the agenda of groups like the Sierra Club and their relentless pursuit to shut us down.

However, they will use something like those videos as ammunition and leverage against us every chance they can get. Even if Frank wasn't driving the car he still posted the videos and condoned the behavior, along with many people, such as yourself. I don't understand how you guys can begin to think how those actions would do anything positive with the current state of our sport and riding areas. Those videos are public and I will bet that there are little eco-nazi cronies that scour places like youtube for content to bury us with.

Perhaps instead of sitting there and accusing us of jumping on some "bandwagon" you should look at the fact that ALL of our actions in this sport/industry can heavily affect each other.

People need to stop this typical "Ford vs Chevy" mindset and realize that we are all part of a community. The hatred between forums and brand of machine has to stop and we need to unite to take a stand for our sport. Like many, this is not only my hobby it is my livelihood. To see my ability to go riding along with my career come to an end due to the poor judgment of other people is unacceptable.

You will have a hard time getting most to understand this. The Green Peace Police have most of our community right where they want them....assuming that they aren't paying attention to what we are doing or how we act.

Heck...look at how the liberals have portrayed the horrific shooting in AZ. The media is reporting that it was a crazed Right wing conservative that performed the senseless act and that every Conservative that has commented on the situation has essentially told America to load their guns and carry an extra clip. That couldn't be farther from the truth yet most believe it because it's not being denounced or proven differently to the masses.

Most of those that have commented over there and accuse us of being too critical or uptight are the same ones that will be crying when they can't go riding anymore and wonder why.

Keep posting videos of acting like fools, riding without helmets, speeding through camps, driving these vehicles illegally and see where that gets us. THEY ARE WATCHING WHAT WE DO!!!!!

My dad (Papa Bear) has been saying this since the early 80's when we went to Glamis a lot as kids and people would say the same thing they say now "I don't get involved in politics, they will never do that" and look politics plays a huge roll in our sport and there is less and less riding areas open each year I agree with you 100%! This type of thread raises awareness, it also shows that most of us wont put up with crap that is going to continue to blacken the eyes of our hobby and sport. I have NEVER said Frank was a bad guy, I have always said that I know he means well, he does as much if not more for that site then the owners do, he throws thousands of dollars at the site and it should be looked at as him doing it for the good of the site and the sport not just for his own personal gain and ego stroking.

Now with that said it is obvious that a FEW of the members over there dont get it. Its not just about Tree Huggers, its about saftey, laws, and govt. Its about regulations and manufacturers being regulated and sued. I dont care if it was Robby Gordon himself behind the wheel, if you do 70 in a 35 with no safety gear, no registration, and no concern for public or personal safety you deserve to be flamed! BOTTOM LINE. Frank says he wasnt in the car? Well I call BS but that is hewre nor there. He posted it along with a host of other bonehead videos showing him driving like a jackhole around a parking lot. At the end of the day no one was hurt or harmed, but again, one falso move by him or another vehicle and this conversation goes from a flame fest to a Fundraiser.....

Personally I really like both boards but just wish the other forum could eliminate all the extra drama. But we all know that won't happen as long as a certain someone continues to use that site as his personal playground (case in point this past week). I am not referring to Frank at all in this comment.

Joey, it is never fun to engage in conflict. I applaud you and thank you for voicing your opinion. I am good friends with Frank and think very highly of him for what he gives on a daily basis to our awesome industry. Actually I am grateful to both of you and everyone else that volunteers and does anything to better our sport, thank you!

Yeah, I'm scrambling hard to try and get my Prowler done for KOH. Still have lots to do. Between work and the kids (single parent), I think I'm limited to just about 10-12 hours a week that I can work on the car...scramble, scramble, scramble...

I hope to leave Monday morning for KOH, be there that evening. But if my driveline isn't finished being built, it may be the next day. I had to have a custom driveline built since I moved the diff. Dang Arctic Cats don't have typical drivelines either..oddball sizing.

Are you competing Kyle, or just watching. If my car isn't race worthy in time, I may just come help with checkpoints and such...

You are right and you are wrong. Yes, Johnny /UTV Inc is friends with those people. However, you are are mistaken about not being able to speak your mind on the UTV Inc forum. Johnny doesn't put up with BS on his forum but censorship is not something you will find on that site. You will find people speaking their minds, boobs, jokes and lots of UTV talk. I was reading through it and didnt see any fighting, bad mouthing, just that maybe the RZR could have won if it was on pavement haha. then bam, moved to trash.
