2015 Baja 500 Race Recap & Pics

Tune into CBS Sports on Sunday at 9p.m. (ET) to catch the premier of the 2015 Baja 500.

Our race team showed up for the 2015 Baja 500 ready to take the course by storm, and bring home a first place finish. Justin and Victor spent 2 days pre-running the course, preparing themselves for the worst Baja had to offer. Victor took the #1908 off the starting line and would complete the first 220 miles of the race. Even though Victor pasted multiple class competitors during those miles, the run was far from perfect. The problems ensued at RM125 when we were forced to stop for repairs due to losing the secondary in the clutch. Shortly after, at RM180 the #1908 started losing power due to a failure in the injector harness. Victor knocked out another 40 miles, limping the last 25, before the pit crew was able to fix the injector harness. Justin took control of the revived #1908, and he was headed for the win! Justin had an amazing run for the next 230 miles, but hearts dropped when yet again the injector harness failed. With only 50 miles left in the race Justin pulled out all the stops to try and make the finish line…unfortunately the #1908 was declared KO’d only 15 miles from the finish.
Even though we did not finish, as a race team, we feel that the 2015 Baja 500 was a great experience. Overall, through our successes and misfortunes, we grew as a team which we believe will help us bring home a podium position in the 2015 Baja 1000.
