Very happy to hear max tire size has been increased. Scratching my head trying to figure out the odd size 32". I wonder why 32" was chosen? Why not a more standard and avalible 33" tire? Not many brands make a 32" and the ones that do are typiclly 11.5 wide.

Also have to wonder if someone pressured Cory to do this? At the Mint he was very clear that he was not increasing tire size.

How many guys are going to be switching it up to a 15" wheel combo, with a 32" tire?

My guess would be all the top guys and everybody else who can afford it. The bigger the tire the smaller the hole.lol.
I would like to see a 32 inch tire for a 14 inch wheel. This would be almost the same ratio as TT with a 39 on 17 wheel.

Curious to know how this rule got approved...
Per Casey Folks
Since when does Casey write or approve UTV rules? In the past Casey has referred all UTV rule issues directly to Cory.

Like I said I agree 100% about the tire size increase, not sure I understand why 32", unless it was due to a few of the UTV specific tire brands suggesting the size, as they are now making a 32's? 32 is just not a common size in the automotive / light truck market.

Sorry let me rephrase that, Casey told Cory that he would like to see the tire size upped to 32" and Cory said that he would make it happen for 2016. I for one agree with what Hans said exactly! I also wish that they were for a 14" rim. Just like the move with the top TT teams going from 37" to 39"

Knowing Casey & Cory have no relationship with BFG. I wonder how BFG feels about this new rule, which will make their new tire not the max standard for the class? The new 30" BFG KR2 was developed for UTV racing, so it was an investment for BFG to build a smaller version of the 35" KR2.

Also BFG is in very tight with Score and have been for a very long time. Was this rule changed descussed with Score as the UTV class has been adament about keeping the rules the same between series?

I had heard BFG's next tire would be a 33" version of the KR2. This size will cover all limited buggy class's, plus some class 12 cars might stick with a 33". I don't see BFG investing in a 32 & 33 tire.

So once again this 32" size is an odd number compared to what the rest of the classes will be running. I'm betting this size was talked to with a few UTV branded tires as a few of them have promoting & releasing a 32 inch tire.

The two main UTV tire manufacturers both make a 32" tire. They should cap it at 33". I would run some Super Diggers (only 2lbs heavier than 30" tire).

Ding! Ding! Winner! The Yokohama is an awesome tire and would be my choice. They are Baja proven. Next choice would be if GMZ made the Cutthroat in a 32 or 33 as it is very similar in design to the Super Digger. Big heavy square off tires don't work as well as the lighter rounded tread pattern tires. This is also why BFG developed the tire they did.

I too think the rule needs to be 33" for all.. as it opens up so many more alternatives...and is more inclusive to more sponsors getting involved in the fastest growing class in off road racing. If you want to run 28-30 or 32's great.. just allow the racers as many options as possible.
