California City, CA – December 20, 2017 - Lou Peralta, President and CEO of AVE/BP RACING and main thrust of the BEST-IN-THE WEST Series, announced today that former all-star desert and Dakar motorcycle star, Chris Blais will be returning to active competition starting with the PURE UTV “150” – Event #1 of the PURE UTV OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES. The first event of the series is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2018, in California City. Peralta made the announcement today as more details became available. Peralta stated, “I can’t tell you how happy we are to have Chris back not only competing with us but in the sport that we all love. All of us owe much to Chris for the great press he brought back to the sport. Chris competed with us on bikes a few years ago and when he got hurt and broke his back, he came back a couple years later to compete in a UTV as part of our SuperCourse Desert Series. He then went back to concentrate business and his future. Boy, are we glad he is back with us.”
Chris Blais has been absent from active racing for a while now, but it seems he has all his ducks in a row and ready to be a force to contend with. He is resuming his racing career with his new Can-Am X3 RS. With the help of many in the industry,
he has put together an amazing machine that will challenge for the top spots in the PURE UTV Series as well as some of the Mexico Rallies. According to Chris, “It feels great to be back in the racing seat again after a long break the last few years. The car will be finished up in the next couple weeks and I will be out at the first AVE racing event in January. Thank you for everyone’s help in this build to get me back in the saddle.”Aside from the fact that Blais will be racing in a 2018 Can-Am Maverick X3 RS, he is supported by some of the major sponsors in the sport: Blais Racing Services, Safecraft, KWI Clutching, Rok Blokz, CT Race Worx, Trinity Exhaust, UTV Shocks, Eibach, PWR Tune, Zollinger Racing, MasterCraft, Impact, Alpinestars and Raceline Wheels. The 2018 BEST-IN THE-WEST PURE UTV OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES features a seven-event schedule with the first event taking place, Saturday, January 13, at the Alta Vista Ranch. The event consists of two laps around a 75-mile-+ course using unmaintained County roads and dedicated or grandfathered trails. Much of the course has not been used for a while so it will be like racing on virgin terrain.
