Forest Services Releases Draft of Proposed New Forest Planning Rule

Dear BRC members, supporters and action alert subscribers,

The U.S. Forest Service has released the Draft of the new Forest Planning Rule which governs how the agency develops Forest Plans.

The agency announced last Friday that the publication of the Draft Rule today, February 14, 2011, will kick off the 90-day public comment period ending May 16, 2011.

The "Final" Draft Rule was published in today's Federal Register. The Draft Rule and other information is available on the USFS Planning Rule "web portal":

The agency has yet to release the Draft Environmental Impact Statement associated with the Draft Rule. The Forest Service has not indicated when that would be available.
