ok guys i am soon to be building a choped and droped style cage all custom. i am on a budget and am wanting to make it as light as possible with out sacraficeing safety. mostly it will be a dune buggy.

a few questions i have:
what thickness of tubing should i use as the main structural bars?
i am thinking 1 1/2" dom
i think i could build the main part out of that and braces and stuff lighter walled...
what is a common smaller size that is being used to make console and dash things like that? 1 1/4?
i have some ideas for my build just trying to figure it all out. what is the price of tubing per foot? i live in arkansas and am having try and find a plcae that deals with dom stuff... i dont want to pay too much.

also what thickness should the aluminum for the roof and doors be?

i like using chromoly but 1 1/2 dom .095 should be fine for the main cage structure and i would use 1 1/4 .095 for the front and rear window openings and 1 1/4 .065 for the lacing in the doors and floor and use .065 for the aluminum and that should make for a good duner :D good luck

i have found @ moores parts .com
some pretty nice looking susp seats race trim brand for 140 each
also a buggy rack and pinion thinking of buying them. are there any better deals on new seats or is that about as low as they get?
the build should start after this fall season... i am collecting parts till then. this should be a sweet r1 dune ride when i get it all built....

same bender i use. 1", 1 1/2", 1 3/4" dies. also check out copper head fab for a air over hyrdolic conversion. then OFN for ideas on how to build a bender cart out of a $40 engine stand.

I have a model 3 bender with the air over hydro set up. It works great. I also modified a cheap engine stand into a bender mount. I will post pics tomorrow.
