Per the FIP on BITD, they will announce starting order at the drivers meeting on Friday evening.

52 Desert Cars Entered!! With a few walk ups this will be the biggest desert race ever held for UTVs.

30 Short course racers so far, I know a bunch more than aren't entered yet that are coming.

Desert racers, you guys can also enter the afternoon race if you want to get after it there.. We are making a more formal announcement for prizes but here is how we have it broken down, what do you think?

No, I don't recall ever saying that. What I did say is that short course cars could not enter the desert race due to the rule requirements, but anyone racing with a desert car could easily enter in the afternoon race and also compete. I know a few who plan to do so. Some others like Marc Burnett plan to bring a short course car along and race both. Rumor is Scanlon may be also doing that and running the afternoon race.

Prize Structure for UTV World Championship Competitors Announced!​

February 10, 2014 San Diego, CA – The UTV World Championship announced today that they will give away over $100,000.00 in cash and prizes to racers competing in the first year event scheduled to take place in Laughlin, Nevada February 19th through the 21st. This exciting new event will feature two world championship UTV races including a Best In The Desert Championship points race, and a short course / motocross style Production UTV Championship race. The four-day event format will feature one full day of racing, contingency and tech in downtown Laughlin, demo and enthusiast rides, and a business-to-business UTV industry summit. The UTV World Championship is part of The Best in The Desert (BITD) Off-Road Racing Association series and will be marketed, co-produced, and covered for television by motorsports media heavyweights, Mad Media. The format will bring together UTV desert racing, UTV motocross style short-course racing, and enthusiast rides, into one massive multi-day event on the edge of the Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada. The event will also be a showcase for UTV manufacturers and aftermarket manufacturing companies. Enthusiasts and racers will be able to pre-run the racecourse in stock UTVs during the “Family Fun Poker Run”.

Nope. Anyone can win. There is however also additional contingency for those running products and decals.
