I'm a sucker for a well buIlt buetiful Race Car. I think even more then the race itself I'm really looking forward to taking a long look at some of the new Bad Ass race cars that are coming out. I didn't get to Parker so I have a few that are on my list.

Jerry fasts' XYZ, Havnt seen it yet and I am looking forward to it.

Ryhs Millens new Bad ass race car. You would think it was a 10 Car from a distance. This car is by far the most trick UTV I've seen. Can't wait to see it in person. Wow, I want.

Orellanas' new polaris looks tuff as hell.

Of course the two cars everyone wants to check out are the Jimco built car and Redlands Car. Any other new cars I should have on the list ?

Not sure if he will be at UTVWC but the new Marc Burnett car is looking pretty slick from the instagram posts.

Im sure it will look awesome but his best race car build was the Monster Mav. Im surprised that nobody tries to improve steering or shock geometry like Reid did on this car.

Monster Mav was definitely an impressive build and Reid's commentary made it that much more enjoyable.

I agree. Fabwerx builds some beautiful race cars. I was trying to remember today when the last time a two seater had overalled ? It couldn't have been as far back as Carver at Silver State was it ?

A 2 seater won this race last year.

didn't think it would be racing till the Score race though. Hopefully I am wrong. I was trying to remeber today when the last time a two seater had overalled ? It couldn't have been as far back as Carver at Silver State was it ?

Even the kids are going big this race. Bad Ass 170 build by CarrOne. The Walker Evans shocks kick ass.

Regarding steering & shock geometry, whoever is not trying to move & improve is not taking advantage of the rules and will be racing for second place. How many teams have actually cycled their suspension to see how much bump steer and camber change they have? How much more leverage are these longer dog leg rear XP trailing arms adding to the radius rods and pivot points? How can you fix and reduce these big issues with the XP? What pound springs are you having to use to overcome the longer a-arms with stock shock mounts?

IMO buying off the shelf long travel kits and using stock shock geometry won't be the choice of the top contending teams by the end of this season. You don't see guys buying Rancho kits and bolting them on their race trucks.

I couldn't agree more. Many have figured out how to make the radius rods last but the amount of leverage on them could be drastically reduced.

The days if bolting up an hcr kit to a rhino and winning a race out here is long gone. I know someone who is building their car in solid works and is laying it out scaling it the whole way. He moved the motor over and forward a few inches to get the balance of the car right. He is strictly cross country but the ideas are the same in these desert cars. Very few people have probably had the privilege to drive so many different cars like I get to do. I can tell you they Reid's monster Mav was legit. Regardless of what you threw at it, how hard you drove it, it never bucked, stepped out, had body roll, nothing. It was seriously so close to perfect it was amazing. The balance and handling were nothing short of amazing compared to what a short NA maverick is like stock. There are some others that are really starting to work on cycling their suspension and trying to get the most out of it. But I don't think anyone will have a complete totally balanced and perfectly handling car quite like Reid had the monster Mav. It was literally amazing to feel that thing work under you. The way it ran and drove and handled would likely be best when compared as in trophy truck handling versus stock ford ranger handling compared to how much better it drove than a stock maverick.

There are a few builders out there that are making the sometimes only slight changes to geometry to make these cars handle better and are doing so quietly for obvious reasons.. Taking caster, camber, and steering Akerman into account to make these cars handle better and minimize bumps steer is not rocket science it just takes the knowledge and time to get it right.

I am racing on the same stuff that we build and sell to recreation customers. Not all long travel kits are created equal. And i think we are a top contending team.

Our point is to show the performance of our product. Any RZR owner can call us and order the same thing we run on our race car, off the shelf, and bolt it on to their play car or family wagon.

While I agree you guys are a competitive team and have wins to back it up. And since you are in the business of building suspension components for the recreational user, it makes sense for you to showcase how durable your parts are in race conditions. I've even looked at your kits for my own play car.

But we are talking Racing and the UTV rules are very wide open once you get past the stock chassis pivot points. Its only a matter of time when we start seeing more & more teams building racing purpose parts and taking advantage of these open rules. Just how Geiser, Jimco, Racer, Brenthal etc.. do. Then again the budget to built a top level UTV might steer many away from this class and into another class, thus keeping the production long travel kits as the most popular option?? I guess only time will tell.

Just because something comes off a shelf does not make it bad. You crack me up with your comments about all this stuff. The funny part is all the top teams use "off the shelf parts" like S3, Cognito, Angal, Simms, Jagged X, Holz, and myself included. Comparing a product like what we use from Holz, Lonestar, S3, Cognito, or Jimco to a "Rancho kit" puts the Dick in redickuls. Let the racing and results do the talking, not your keyboard.
I said it before "trick parts = trick problems"

i get what you are saying, and i really hope these other teams spend time on that, rather than what is really a priority!
