After a full review of the stock intake system of the 1K we knew there were a few things that we wanted improve on. Based on what we achieved with the 900 we knew there would be some nice performance gains as well. We finally wrapped up the testing and tuning of our intake kit for the 1K. After several configurations and changes we are satisfied with the final fit, finish and durability of the design. Unfortunately, this time around you will be required to cut the bed to install the kit, so if that's not for you then you might want to stop reading now.

Filtration first!!! We partnered with R2C Performance to develop filters in the size and capacity we needed to support our kit. They are a highly durable filters that are not easily susceptible to damage like most gauze type filters. To service the filters you simply knock them out and blow them from the clean side out with compressed air. The R2C filter is a dry element that uses no oil that can migrate. There is no need to buy specific oils or cleaners, which will ultimately save you money in the long run. The synthetic material used for the R2C filter is designed to shed dust cake during use and factory testing has proven that they exceed the efficiency of the stock 1K air filter. Outerwears are available as an option for wet conditions.

(Stage I)
Our Stage I kit comes complete with everything you will need for the in bed install.... Twin flanged intake adapters produced from thin wall 6061 T-6 aircraft tubing for maximum air flow, (no plumbing parts here!). We also provide a crank case breather adapter that installs in the stock intake tube of the plenum box and 5/8" hose extension that routes high on the frame to maintain the emission standards. To top off the kit we use dual R2C dry filter elements to maintain the stock filtration capacity and to give superior filtration with ease of service.

(Stage II)
Our Stage II kit is a race inspired upgrade for the Stage I. It's a fresh air set up that brings the filters up on the cage into the fresh air path and keeps them high and dry. Designed for the nastiest of dust and silt conditions, letting the filters breath as much clean air as possible. It is excellent for the hard core enthusiast encountering the worst of it, all the way up to the full bore desert racer. It comes complete with our exclusive vibration isolating bar mounts to relocate the filters remotely, our hard core double cuffed duct system, as well as all the clamps to complete the install. Looks as bad ass as it works!

(Stage III)
Our Stage III is a complete aluminum plenum/air box that replaces the stock unit. it will incorporate the dual 3" inlets for the Stage II components to bolt right up to. This is for those that only want the best in looks and performance.

Unlike the 900 our Dyno testing proved that the air/fuel ratio was border line. It would be acceptable for most trail riding etc., but for most who run hard and fast, load them up or duners the extra load applied by the sand, paddles and long hill climbs puts it in question. Beyond that you are leaving performance gains on the table. During testing we found that adding the appropriate amount of fuel and timing made for a healthier running machine and it unleashed overall performance from off the line, mid range and continued to pull hard all the way to through to peak rpm. As with our Double Down for the 900 you build the usable horsepower much more quickly and have crisper throttle response off the line and through the whole usable power band, (it really wakes the 1K up!)

To optimize the performance of our intake we worked exclusively with the PCV controller. This is a very nice unit and not only does it allow you to adjust fuel, you can adjust the timing to realize the full potential of the motor. After several runs we found a tune that works very well and flat gets it using 91 octane fuel. The question has been asked as to why we do not use the Auto tune model. Well.... not everyone wants to weld in the O2 sensor to accommodate the system, and the O2 sensor has proven to be a regular maintenance item. It has a tendency to plug up and can lead to inaccurate signals being supplied to the controller.

To support the 1K Double Down we are offering the PCV with our proprietary tune. Bottom line is you will want to add fuel at a minimum whether you decide to use the PCV with our proprietary tune or one of the basic controllers that are readily available from many of the suppliers to the industry. If you go with a basic controller then we recommend that you have it tuned by a trained professional to confirm proper air/fuel ratio.

So if you're looking for all out performance and filtration for your 1K then this just might be the kit for you. When the time comes to do that all out motor build you will have the intake to support it.

All of the components in our kits were designed, developed and tested in house. We only use the highest grade materials available to build our kits, all components and raw materials are American made.

If you know it's a sure bet, then Double Down!
