Default WideOpenDesign.com’s Brit Mansell takes home wins in both motos at the opening round

WideOpenDesign.com’s Brit Mansell takes home wins in both motos at the opening round of the 2011 Fall MotoGP series aboard his 2011 Polaris RZR-XP

With UTV racing opening up at every corner in the Southeast, there is no shortage of places to put your side by side to the test. The newest of these series is hosted at three GP-style tracks located in Georgia and Tennessee. The courses offer plenty of short-course style racing along with the occasional woods section.

Brit Mansell started the first moto with a bang, almost rolling his vehicle in a collision with another driver about twenty feet off of the line. Ten Polaris UTV’s all left the line simultaneously fighting for that illusive holeshot position, flanked on the inside by a large round hay bail. The hay bail would have definitely have won that fight, so it was imperative to be out front quickly. Bumping and banging produced some great action for the crowd, with Richard Vose coming out unscathed to take the holeshot and lead the entire field for a lap and a half before being overcome by Brit Mansell who was third after the first turn.

The second moto saw Brit Mansell taking the holeshot and leading until the following checkered flag. Johnny Ford, in his RZR-XP, took second off the line and kept Brit honest the entire race, producing a pair of second place finishes for second overall. Third place for the day went to Jim Tsokatos piloting his highly modified Blue Torch Fab powered Polaris RZR 800.

All in all it was a great day of racing to kick off the new Fall Moto GP series. All of the competitors had a great time and expect a much larger turnout for the following rounds.

Special thanks goes out to Sparky’s Cycle Ranch, in Blairsville, GA for hosting the event and to Wyatt Racing Products for kicking a large cash payout for the winner of the UTV class.
