i am running 11:1 686, head work, duals, etc etc...
i like the motor but it feels like a manual in to high of gear...it needs to get higher rpms. i think i read orange spring and 12g weights are good for a 686...do you guys think thatd help me? thanks |

I run a orange with 12-14 gram mix with my 686 seems to work good but bronco would be your best bet

If you get a set of 660 and 450 rhino weights you can mix and match to get a wide variety of weight pretty cheap. As long as you have it balanced you cna mix and match. Half 660 and half 450 weights with an orange spring works great on the 686 with stage 2 hotcam. Dry clutches are very nice and easy to adjust, but not necessary with a 686.

I run 11g weights and shift out at 7800 rpms with my 686.

I'd start with every other one, its pretty easy to change them, so you could try different combos and let us know what worked the best for you.

hrt, us etc. only had 686's so a dry clutch is not even close to overkill with that size of a motor, now if its recreational then a dry clutch might not be for you. if you want to get as close to dry clutch launch and shifting with a wet clutch and machined sheave, then run the orange spring(secondary) with 11g weights, even more stall with stiffer wet springs(internal). chris and rog got that combo figured out, ive done it on other cars and its really good.

with 700 miles on the 686 aluminum custom rollers failed the test.
like C&C said get both 10 and 12. call Chris at Benchmark, he prob has them in stock. Thanks C&C, I do have it figured out pretty well. Chris tries to tailor the wet setup per individual riding style, so it can vary. Rog
