The 2012 WORCS season will forever be remembered as the year UTV’s took over. It will also be remembered as the year UTV racers running FOX shocks would sweep the series’ championships. 3 racers in 3 separate classes would compete for a full season, win their respective classes and bring home Championships in Production 1000, Production 850, and Production 700 all while running on FOX products. UTVUnderground.com would like to take the time to help FOX congratulate these racers and their accomplishments this season.

Production 1000 is the premier class at the World Off-Road Championship Series better known as WORCS. The class is primarily filled with Polaris RZR XP900’s however those with Can-Am Commander’s, Arctic Cat Wildcat’s, and modified Kawasaki Teryx’s also compete. Competition in this class is the highest of any other form of UTV racing so its with great pride that we congratulate Production 1000 winner and FOX sponsored athlete Ryan Piplic on his 2012 Production 1000 Championship. Piplic competed week in and week out, relentlessly putting pressure on fellow competitors all while doing what it took to remain in the points battle going into the final round.  Piplic was able to fend off the full season push from RJ Anderson and Beau Baron, maintain points contention and in the end bring home the big trophy! With a lot of hard nosed racing and a little bit of luck, Piplic was able to win Round 8 at Honolulu Hills MX Park which would also yield him the season points championship.

“Having the fastest motor or the best looking car can make winning a championship easier, but without a great company like FOX sponsoring you it would be next to impossible. FOX has provided a great deal of support this year allowing me to compete at the top level with the best drivers in the Production 1000 class. FOX is the reason I won a championship this year with most of the WORCS courses being extremely rough. FOX shocks are a necessity to allow my RZR to perform at its best. They soaked up everything from 3-4 foot whoops, huge square edges, to 100 plus foot jumps. They were extremely dependable, I would trust them with any obstacle that was in the way. Without FOX shocks and especially FOX’s Rick Strobel I wouldn’t be the 2012 WORCS Production 1000 champion.”– Ryan Piplic 2012 Production 1000 Champion

Production 850 may not have the speed that Production 1000 has but don’t tell our 2012 Production 850 Champion David Lytle that. Lytle and his raced out Kawasaki Teryx could have made a run in the Production 1000 class with all of his consistency and drive to win. Here is a guy who purchased a set of FOX shocks from Cognito Motorsports and had them completely customized to become one of the key’s to his 2012 championship run.  David Lytle and his red Kawasaki turned heads all year long as his high powered machine would blast through the turns and sky the MX style jumps the WORCS series has to offer.  Whenever we were waiting for the leader of the Production 850 class to come around there was a solid chance it was going to be the Teryx of Lytle! Lytle also had competition but he consistently remained atop the points lead and would be able to bring home that Production 850 Championship with ease!  UTVUnderground.com wants to thank Lytle for his support of UTVUnderground.com by running our colors on his car all year long.

“I’ve ran FOX shocks for years and love them, I’ve never had a single problem! Last year with my Rhino I ran FOX 2.0 8.5” shocks and the car handled amazing, finishing 2nd in the championship. This year running the FOX 2.0 RC2 BOC’s, I was able to exit a corner at any WORCS track, point the car strait over any rough terrain layed out in front of me and mash the throttle and hold on as the car soaked up everything I threw at it. I never experienced shock fade during the entire season and I was very comfortable hitting obstacles at full speed and having confidence that the car would handle predictably. Having faith in my shocks gave me the confidence to drive the car to its potential.” – David Lytle 2012 Production 850 Champion

Production 700 is an interesting story. This would mark the first year that a platform other than the Yamaha Rhino would win the Production 700 class, it would also mark the first year that FOX athlete Cody Rahders would ever compete in the WORCS series. This year Polaris introduced their new RZR570 platform and with a little bit of help from UTVUnderground.com and Cognito Motorsports, WORCS rookie Cody Rahders was able to represent Polaris and his other sponsors by competing in this new machine. Cody Rahders, a long time FOX sponsored athlete has raced on FOX products in both UTV’s and in Super-Lite trucks at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS).  We knew what Rahders was capable of, we just aren’t sure his competitors were.  Rahders came out and took the Production 700 class by storm pulling off the season championship running on custom tuned FOX shocks by Cognito Motorsports. It was an impressive run put together by Rahders and his team at R3 Motorsports who on one weekend had to pull double duty and race both WORCS and LOORRS. Cody is a future star and we are proud to have him on the UTVUnderground.com team!

“When we started the Polaris RZR570 project FOX wasnt just a consideration, it was a must have! From their track side service to their to incredibly talented staff of in-house shock tuners, FOX’s product support is incredible. They are readily available, very professional, and ready to service what they sell. FOX shocks are the only choice for us no matter what we are racing.” – Cody Rahders 2012 Production 700 Champion
