The second longest stage of the rally varied with a mix of dunes, sandy tracks and potions of beaches. Once the teams made it past the difficulties of Ica’s dunes, the riders and drivers headed to the Pacific Ocean and followed the coast for one hundred kilometers, over small dunes and sandy beaches.

Today was a day for rookies in the UTV category. Battling with Michelangelo Bertolla since the beginning of the stage, Ricardo Porem – another newcomer to the Dakar – has now taken command of the stage, merely by 7 seconds. Chaleco López lies just 13 seconds behind.

Todays difficult terrains was brilliantly negotiated by Chaleco López, today marks his second stage in an UTV. Previously he raced Dakar on a bike in 2013 and 2014.

Almost half of the new comers to the the 2019 Dakar have joined the race in the UTV class.

We continue with an exceptional feeling. Today 4th position with good rhythm and impeccable navigation of @ danioliveras_21. We were able to climb after getting caught in a dune at the beginning of the stage, where we lost almost 11 minutes. Very happy!!!!

Today we are seventh in the second stage of the Dakar Rally and we are seventh in the general standings. It was a long stage of 340 kms with many dunes, a lot of dust and many dangers. The third stage of tomorrow will have 330 km, to continue with the strategy that this has just begun!
