American Casey Currie opened the Rallye Du Maroc with a second place finish in class on Saturday, finishing the ride from Fes to Aoufous in 3:50:24. Curris and navigator Sean Berriman will start second on the road in Sunday’s second stage, just one minute and 43 seconds off of the lead.

“The car’s running well and Sean did a great job co-driving,” said Currie. “We never got lost, no navigation errors at all. We’ve got a lot of prototype stuff on the car, preparing for Dakar!”

Rallye du Maroc runs through October 9. The event is comprised of five stages, where different classes of vehicle run different routes. Currie and the rest of the Enduro Cup, SSV, and Open class vehicles will resume their 2,300-kilometer chase on Sunday with the second stage of the event.
