LA FAMILIA STARTED IN 2008 WHEN WE MET @ GLAMIS KOA NORTH FOR A BRADSHAW TRAIL RIDE. THE FOUNDING MEMBERS WERE CISCO KID, JIM DREWIT, CRAIG PRUETT & MYSELF. (OF COURSE OUR LOVELY SPOUSES WHO HELP KEEP IT ALL TOGETHER) WE HAD SO MUCH FUN & ENJOYED EACH OTHERS COMPANY SO MUCH WE DECIDED TO DO IT AS OFTEN AS WE COULD. I SAID WE WERE LA FAMILIA & IT STUCK. WE HAVE BEEN RIDING TOGETHER EVER SINCE. WE STARTED ON PSXS AS OUR HOME SITE. THEY RAN US OFF & JOEY WELCOMED US TO THE UNDERGROUND WITH OPEN ARMS & THIS IS HOME. THE CORE GROUP IS STILL TOGETHER EVEN IF CRAIG IS IN COLORADO. WE PREACH SAFETY, FUN, COMRARDIE & RESPONSIBILTY. HAUL OUT WHAT YOU BRING IN & PICK UP A LITTLE EXTRA . FAMILY FIRST, GOD & AMERICA. YOU CAN SEE AMERICAN FLAGS ON ALL OF OUR VEHICLES. THANKS AGAIN JOEY FOR GIVING US A HOME. EVERYONE WITH ANY KIND OF VEHICLE IS WELCOME. WE WERE THE FIRST TO WELCOME CHINA BUGGIES, JUST ASK GEEK BOY. WE HAVE HAD JEEPS ,TRUCKS & ANY KIND OF OFFROAD VEHICLE YOU CAN IMAGINE. WE LOVE OFFROADING & BEING WITH OUR FRIENDS. WE DO COMMUNITY SERVICE SUCH AS THE ROBERT ROSAS MEMORIAL OFFROAD RIDE. ANYTHING TO ADD CISCO, JIM, PAPA BEAR, BREVEN, CRAIG GEEKWITHABUGGY, CLASS51600, TRANSFORMER & ATC KID HAVE ALL BEEN TOGETHER FOR A WHILE.
WE WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME IN OUR CAMP. JUST SIGN UP FOR A RIDE & COME ON OUT. BE SURE TO BRING AN APPETITE BECAUSE WE ALWAYS ARE EATING.
WE ALL NEED TO POST PIX OF OUR FAMILIES & SOME OF THE RIDES WE HAVE BEEN ON.
BRADSHAW TRAILS, TUMCO MINES, ELLIOT MINES, MOUNTAIN SPRINGS GRADE, MECCA CANYON, LITTLE RUBICON, PAINTED GORGE, TRUCKHAVEN, MILLER CANYON, TECATE SUMMIT & TECATE TRAIN TUNNEL.

this is now the official sticky thread for La Familia members to let everyone know who they are and also the official thread to explain to members who La Familia is and how to be a part of this awesome group of off road enthusiasts!

Also if anyone needs their title to show them as a La Familia member please send me a PM and I will take care of that for you!

Well, since Papa got it started, I guess we all need to step up and introduce ourselves. I'm Dan and the other younger man in the picture below is my son Chris (also 3rd from left in Papa's post above).

We've been part of the Familia for a short period, but it seems like we've known everyone for a lifetime.

I rode dirt as a kid in Michigan, and then left for the military and left it behind. When I left the military I moved to Barstow and got my first taste of southwest dirt.

When Chris turned 13 we bought dirt bikes and started tearing up the desert terrain. His cousin is a SCORE driver and pro quad driver so we had lots of help in what/where to go. After a bad accident, the bikes were given a send off and we were stuck on what to do with a beautiful 32ft toy hauler with nowhere to go, or anything to put in it.
:)

Well, the RZR-S just hit the market so I started to work a deal with my accountant (my lovely wife Victoria) and we were now on four wheels with a cage in the desert!

Our first ride with the gang was summer of 2010 in Miller Canyon, and we were instantly hooked.

While we've only made a few rides, we look forward to many more. I can't think of a better group of people to spend my recreational time with.

Let me start by saying that some of the best people I have met in my entire live are in this short but sweet story, Love Ya, DD, Compadre, Jaime, Gregorio, etc. One day many years ago, I told my wife hey hun I met some people on the internet and they invited us to come out for a ride. She said to me I hope this is not the last time anyone hears from us, are you sure it’s ok? How can people just invite a family without knowing then and not wanting something from them, etc. Anyway this was our first time up to The Hamptons and we were welcome like family 30 seconds after we met DD and Cisco. Cisco starting kissing everyone just met them and he was kissing them already. It was an amazing experience, as selfish people I have ever met offering you there food and drink and making feel more welcome then even with your own family. Well we have been there ever sense.

How do you get to the Tecate Summit and Tecate Train Trails? I live in Alpine, Ca. I would like to check them out some time soon.
WE RIDE ALONG THE BORDER FENCE ON BORDER PATROL ROADS. THE TECATE SUMMIT IS A LARGE MOUNTAIN ON THE WEST SIDE OF TECATE. I WAS TOLD YOU CAN RIDE TO THERE FROM THE OTAY MESA. (I NEVER HAVE SO I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE) IF YOU CAN THE VIEW FROM THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN IS BREATHTAKING. IF YOU GET TO THAT POINT HEAD TOWARDS TECATE ALONG THE FENCE. WE RAN ABOUT 1,000' ON THE PAVEMENT TO THE EAST SIDE PAST THE ABANDONED TRUCK INSPECTION STATION. MAKE A RIGHT ON THE DIRT ROAD & HEAD TO THE BORDER FENCE. FOLLOW IT TO THE EAST & IT TAKES YOU TO THE TECATE TRAIN TUNNEL. WE ALWAYS COME FROM SACRED ROCKS IN BOULEVARD. WE GET TO BIA 10 TURN WEST ON BIA 15 TO PAST THE RR TRACKS FOLLOW 3 OR 4 DIFFERENT TRAILS TO THE BORDER FENCE. WE VISIT THE ROBERT ROSAS MEMORIAL CROSS & GO THROUGH SMITH CANYON & ANOTHER CANYON UNTIL WE GET BACK ON THE BORDER PATROL ROAD & FOLLOW IT TO THE TUNNEL & TECATE. YOU CAN ALSO GO DOWN THE SHOCKEY TRUCK TRAIL. JUST BEFORE THE POWER LINE TOWERS YOU MAKE A RIGHT & IT WILL GET YOU TO THE BORDER. IF YOU REACH THE POWERLINE YOU ARE TOO FAR. THE ROAD IS ABOUT 400' NORTH. WE WILL BE MAKING THAT TRIP FROM THE GOLDEN ACORN CASINO ON MAY 28TH FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL ROBERT W ROSAS MEMORIAL RIDE. THIS WILL BE MEMORIAL WEEKEND & THE GOLDEN ACORN IS ALLOWING US TO DRY CAMP FOR FREE IN THEIR PARKING LOT.
