WOW...what a weekend!!!!! Nice bunch of people, trying to ease my pain by telling me about all your problems. Just when you hit your all time low,it gets worse. When I got home I saw my wife car and my car damaged. Found out Sandy fell asleep hit my Miata and neighbors new car.

Score,
1. Motorhome totaled-no collision...FIRE Templen HWY.
2.Miata - no collision
3.Mazda 3 -wifes car
4.2013 Toyota Corrolla-complete drivers side damage
4.Nobody hurt - PRICELESS
I'm stressed out GOOD NIGHT!:eek::eek::eek:

The short story on the Short Bus is that I broke the stub shaft on a front outer CV. I promptly removed the shaft and proceeded to help Jay with his broken wheeler. I didn't think my problem all the way through:rolleyes: Somehow it held together the rest of the way to the top where we had lunch but not having given my broken axle proper thought, proceeded back down Miller. Whoops:eek:

The first indication something was awry:

Next thought, how far to camp?

So we removed the wheel and hub while Big A kept the weight centered

Grumpy and his winch helped us get it up trail to a wide spot where we devised a plan. We decided to bring a couple of trucks and a trailer to the top of Alamo for recovery. I stayed with the Short Bus while the others took my family to the comfort of camp and grabbed the needed trucks and trailer.
Here I sat and otherwise farted around for a couple of hours.

Now, I'm not really the sit around and wait kinda guy. So with Shannon's (Dunecrusher) idea for inspiration, an air damn torn of of some poor guys vehicle, a bungie cord and a Leatherman the skid was born. I proceeded up trail and this is how the guys found me.

With a calculated amount of counterweight the ride up was much faster and successful.

I knew in the end it would wind up here. I wasn't worried a bit, and it did it under it's own power with the help of a great group of guys.

By the way, Mrs. Slacker is trailer pullin'est wife I've ever had. She's awesome and I think pretty used to this stuff by now:D

Thanks very much to all of the guys who jumped in to help me out. I can't thank you all enough, I will bring you beer from Larry's trailer for the next three rides. Dave, I'm so glad we didn't have to attempt it but thanks for being open to the idea of bringing your truck down to haul it up. I'm bringin' you beer hand a foot for 4 rides;) The Bus will be down a while but my problems aren't near as bad as some guys, this was a rough trip:eek:

And by the way, I place the blame for all of this squarely on Stumpy's shoulders. He had the camera right on top of a difficult obstacle instead of the bypass side. I think it's widely know by now that Short Bus is into showing off that it's more than the hay wagon (as Shannon likes to call it) it was designed to be. Thanks man:D:D:D:D:D

Stumpy just told me he thinks the video for this ride is going to be his Mona Lisa! Not kidding! He got some very kick ass vid of short bus workin, and not working. Angie and Shannon put on a show too. Did I mention Shannon ran over both my feet with his steroid powered Wildcat? They are still sore, but I was standing kinda in his way, so my bad!

OK - the guy who had the idea to use the air dam for a skid has gotta be from Arkansas or Kentucky in order to come up with that configuration. A city slicker would have been stranded and would be calling AAA.

Fortunately I got home with nary a scratch, but I did order some new tires for the rocky trails. I was pushing my luck with the tires I had but they performed well.
Tough luck with the blowouts Grumpy......bad Karma?
