SCORE announces CBS Sports Network will televise
entire 2014 SCORE World Championship series

Most expansive television coverage package in 41-year history of SCORE international

RENO, Nev.—SCORE International’s Roger Norman announced today that CBS Sports Network will televise the entire five-race 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series. Each one-hour telecast will air the month following each event, starting with this month’s season-opening 28th Annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 desert race.

Round 1 of the five-race 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series will be held in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, Feb. 27-March 2. In 2014, two SCORE races will be held in the United States and three in Mexico.

This deal provides the most expansive television coverage package in the 41-year history of SCORE, the world’s foremost desert racing organization. The regular telecast time slot for the SCORE events will be Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET. Further, a sixth show will cover the 2014 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 qualifying event, held Nov. 4-7 in conjunction with the annual SEMA Show automotive industry trade show in Las Vegas.

“One of our primary goals when we acquired SCORE International was to develop a viable television package as quickly as possible,†said Roger Norman, SCORE CEO and President. “We welcome the challenge of developing our product for tremendous added exposure in new markets and are excited to have CBS Sports Network help introduce the world’s best desert racers to a national audience.

The 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series will open its season by visiting Mexico for the first of three annual SCORE Baja races. The race itself will be held along the azure waters of the Sea of Cortez in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.

SCORE INTERNATIONAL
In its 41st year as the world's foremost desert racing organization in 2014, the five-race 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series, with three special events held in Baja California, Mexico, and two in the United States, starts with the 28th annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250. Starting and finishing in Ensenada, the 46th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500 will be held June 5-8 and the third SCORE Baja race, starting in Ensenada and finishing in La Paz, the 47th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, the granddaddy of all desert racing, will be held Nov. 12-16.

The two U.S. races on 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship calendar are the inaugural SCORE Imperial Valley 250 in Plaster City, Calif. (April 25-27) and the two-day, single-race Inaugural SCORE Desert Challenge, location TBA in SoCal (Sept. 25-28).

With an average of 250 entries in each race, SCORE races offer competition in 35 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs. Entry fields, on average, come from 30 U.S. states and 20 countries.

Created by SCORE in 1994, the marquee racing division in the sport is SCORE Trophy Truck which features high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks.

Founded by the late racing innovator Mickey Thompson in 1973, SCORE International, with corporate offices in Reno, Nev. and the SCORE Tech shop in El Cajon, Calif., is owned by Roger Norman, a SCORE Trophy Truck champion racer who purchased the company in late 2012 from motorsports icon Sal Fish.

Good for SCORE, now they need to get racers back to their series, from sportsmen to top tier teams people are leaving, races are getting cancelled (Reno 2014).
Get that ship under control.

i'm gonna camp out at Superstition for the race and ride over to Plaster to watch it, if anyone is interested. I'll probably start a separate thread for that...

I think their ship is quite under control. They have a ton of Trophy Trucks and the 'real' (classes with more than 5 competitors) are expanding. Dying classes like class 11, 5/1600, SCORE Lite, Class 3, Class 5 etc are either not racing at all, or racing in the minor leagues. Roger is doing the right stuff and now his series has gone from 3 races when he took over to 5. Not bad. The Reno 500 (6th race) is a tough one for everyone because it is a brutal race, plus it is far away for a lot of teams. Not missed by me or by my fellow racers that I have talked to.

As for Class 1900 Pro UTV...14 signed up and usually more that sign up last minute. 'Our' class is growing. Woot...woot! Where is Cognito and Holz? You guys need some of that CBS Sports love.

Don't expect much tv time without that "M" logo on your race car. ..
