Matthew Hancock rebounded from a disappointing 17th place finish in Lake Havasu to take his first SXS Pro win of the 2019 Rocky Mountain ATV WORCS Series presented by Polaris RZR at Canyon MX in Peoria, Arizona. Hancock completed five laps of the course in 54:42.572, good for a nearly 18-second victory over Cody Miller, whose second runner-up finish of the season enabled him to take the points lead.

“What a weekend!” Hancock said. “I really wanted to make something happen with a rough past couple of races and this being my home track, and I’m definitely pumped with how it turned out. This class has become so competitive that there are 10 or so people that can win on any given day. Thanks to everyone who helps me out and pumps me up when I need it!”

12 of the 17 Pro entries to start Friday’s event made it to the finish, but incoming points leader and defending series champion Cody Bradbury wasn’t among them after suffering issues on the first lap. It marked the second year in a row that Bradbury suffered a DNF in Peoria. Despite finishes of third and first in the opening two races, Bradbury now sits tied for second in the standings with Beau Baron, seven points back of Miller. Hancock and Hunter Miller, Friday’s third place finisher, complete the top five.

Bradbury had a little more luck in the SXS Pro Stock class, where he finished second by just under eight seconds to race winner Corbin Leaverton. Shelby Anderson, Hancock, and Chris Johnson completed the top five. Leaverton’s second consecutive race victory gives him 65 points on the season so far, putting him nine ahead of Hancock in second and 12 ahead of Baron in third.
