If you followed the now-extinct Lucas Oil short course championship for the past several years, then you know about Rodrigo Ampudia, the Pro-2 driver from Baja that made a statement every time he jumped into the field. Now focusing entirely in desert racing, while supporting his brothers and teammates on their Trophy Truck program, Rodrigo also has his own racing program in the UTV department; this past week while we were down in Baja for the Baja 400 we had a chance to take some photos…
Built at their own shop, this Can-Am features top-notch accessories starting with the 32″ Maxxis Razr XT tires paired with Vision Wheels. Fox shocks tuned by SDG keep this UTV ripping through every type of terrain that Baja throws at it.
In this age where UTVs reliably deliver enough power out of the box, there’s no need to upgrade the drivetrain, so the engine and transmission are stock. Everything else gets reinforced like the Baja Kits A-Arms, Tatum UTV rods, and Evolution Powersports exhaust. The Pyrotect fuel safe makes sure no fuel spills happen during any possible incident.
Finally, on the interior, Impact Racing makes the best safety equipment to keep the drivers in one place, PCI Radios keeps them in communication, and Lowrance GPS makes sure they find the best possible line in the desert. If you want to know more about Rodrigo and the Ampudia Family you also can watch their documentary “Raised in the Dust” on Youtube.
