16-year-old Seth Quintero resumed his domination of the UTV Naturally Aspirated class in 2019 by taking home an impressive victory in Saturday afternoon’s race at the Polaris RZR UTV World Championship. After taking wins in the first two rounds of the Best in the Desert season, including a marquee victory at the Mint 400, Quintero scored another triumph in this year’s UTVWC and avenged a DNF in last year’s action.
“First of all, I have to give a big shout-out to my sister—it’s her 23rd birthday today,” Quintero said before spraying sparkling cider over the assembled fans and media. “My Polaris RZR performed absolutely amazing. This is three in a row, and I’m on cloud nine!”
Quintero was untouchable for a majority of the event, leading most of the 10-lap trek through 17 miles of a rough and challenging course. He finished ahead of runner-up Mike DeLey, who improved on a third place finish in class last year. DeLey’s eight-year-old son Ryan served as co-driver, and landed on the podium in his very first race.
In the UTV Unlimited class, Brett Comiskey set himself up for a potential Saturday sweep by scoring the victory over Michael Isom for the second year in a row. Comiskey posted the fastest overall time of the mixed-class race, while Isom scored his third consecutive UTVWC podium in the Unlimited class, dating back to his victory in 2017.
“It was a good, clean race,” Comiskey said. “We had the belt temp go up a bit, it was pretty warm out there, but we just got through the traffic and ran our own race. We had no flats, no drama with the body. Thanks to all the crew and everyone involved, we had an awesome time!”
With the UTV NA and Unlimited classes in the books, desert racing from the 2019 Polaris RZR UTV World Championship wraps up this evening with the premier UTV Turbo class. Over 60 of the world’s best racers, from defending race winner Phil Blurton to Mint 400 winner Mitch Guthrie Jr., will do battle to determine this year’s UTV World Champion.
