Championship Battles Building with Short Course Off Road's Return to Surprise, Arizona

Corona, Ca. (October 13, 2009) - The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is returning to SpeedWorld Off Road Park in Surprise, Arizona this weekend, October 17th and 18th. The host of Rounds 3&4 in May, SpeedWorld's short course off road racing debut hosted enthusiastic, standing room only crowds. With its signature high banked turns, wide open straight-aways and challenging mogul section, the track is establishing itself as the home to some of the most exciting racing in off road. Now, with the series return, SpeedWorld will once again come alive as the expected sold out crowd will witness the thundering horsepower of 850hp trucks along with buggies, Karts and UTVs attempting to tame the 9/10th mile track.

Seasoned professional Robert Naughton has led the Unlimited Lite truck class from the first green flag of the year in Primm. But, while Naughton appeared to be running away with the division by virtue of his 6 round wins, the consistency of Hart&Huntington's Chris Brandt has kept him in the hunt to challenge for a class championship. Brandt, taking his first win of the season in round 8 at Lake Elsinore, now sits within sight of Naughton with Metal Mulisha General Brian Deegan holding on to the third spot. Naughton, Brandt and Deegan all have been victorious this season and with their eyes on the Unlimited Lite championship, all three will hang it all on the line to gain an advantage.

As one of the most prolific drivers in short course off road racing history with 84 wins, it's no surprise that Lucas Oil's Carl Renezeder sits atop the standings in both Unlimited 4 and Unlimited 2. Now, with U-4 class newcomer Alan Pflueger and U-2 Rookie Jeff Ward holding the second spots in their respective divisions, the veteran is facing tough competition from an unlikely duo. Pflueger in his U-4 K&N machine will be looking to narrow the gap Renezeder holds while fending off the hard charging Kent Brascho. Speed Technologies' "Wardy," who has been nothing short of impressive in his short course off road racing debut, is looking to cap off his rookie season with an Unlimited 2 class championship.

Other Class leaders entering rounds 9&10 are John Harrah in Superlite followed closely by Chad Leising, Chuck Cheek in Unlimited Buggy and Bruce Fraley in Limited Buggy. Currently leaders in the UTV Classes are Chad George in Unlimited UTV, Hanz Waage in Limited UTV and Dan Kelly in Modified UTV. Sheldon Creed is at the top of the standings in both Jr.1 and Modified Karts while Trent Williams is pacing the field in Jr.2 Karts.

Rounds 9&10 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series

What a race! Bobby was black flagged the first lap, given a stop and go penalty. Came from dead last to win it. Best utv race I've ever seen.

I cannot say Thank You enough to BS Sand and XMF for putting on one of the best BBQs I have ever been a part of. From the most unbelievable food; pork, potatoes, beans, and ice cream, the effort that BS Sand put in was over the top, to the group of people who were present. Yesterdays Lucas Oil Race was one of the best times Ive had at an event aside from the week long malays at Snowflake. I am very thankful to see such good people and friends at the event. There was an outrageous amount of racers present that werent even racing. It was a great day for the SxS community.

If youre looking into buying seats for anything right now, please take a close look at BS Sand and what they offer. They are always giving back to our SxS and racing community unlike any other. Their seats are top notch and the options are unlimited.

Once again, Thank You to BS Sand and XMF. Also to Bobby for paying for BS Sand to get through the gates at LOORS....

well I am home. The SUnday UTV race is probably about a half hour away. I cant wait to find out what happens. Saturdays race was intense. Austin was FAST FAST FAST and had he not bicycled on the last lap he would have held on to win. But Bobby was HUNTIN' the whole race after being black flagged for spinning RJ out early on. He came back and worked his way past Chad George who was also driving his butt off. Bobby moved into second and once Austin gave him an opportunity Bobby went by and took the checkered flag.

It was a blast to watch. I am hoping for a strong finish today for RJ Anderson. He had real bad luck yesterday with getting spun out then losing a motor. Same for Tyler Winbury who has been bitten by the bad luck bug, he too lost a motor.

Big congrats to Hans Swage in the DFR Teryx who won his class.

Corry Weller's car is a blast to watch. And when it comes by you cant help but be excited to hear it shift gears and hook up. If thatthing had 4 wheel drive it would be a little quicker, it has so much power that on a wet track it just spins the wheels.

It was a blast to watch Chad George race the super lite, he has a future in those trucks for sure. His first weekend racing the super lite and he was the fastest qualifier. He was in a sweet battle int he main and got tangled up but he definitley showed he can drive that truck! It was also cool to hang in the stands with all the teams and friends and watch the big boys do battle. What a great show Lucas put on!!!!!

Also, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Kimbrell family who graciously put me up in their motorhome at the track. They are such great people and they really made me feel at home. Also bug thank you to the entire XMF Team, Scott, Jimmy, and Bobby who along with BS Sand put on one of the BEST pit party's EVER! The food was amazing. Only problem was I was so wiped out from the long day and the big meal I couldnt stay up to party. Good thing was I only heard CHEESEBURGER a few times! LOL Thanks for letting me sleep boys! LOL

Cant wait to see everyone again. I am loading pics now!!!

Sunday was a GREAT race!!! It was Austin and Bobby (until Bobby broke) then Austin and Chad until the last lap...RJ SMOKED them in the whoops, but Austin was able to maintain the lead as Chad slipped to 3rd. I'll post some pic once they upload.

Hey Doug! LOORRS was awesome for giving me a chance to test out the SR1 with everyone this weekend - it was fun being back out there on Saturday! I had heard some grumblings that there were a few racers who weren't happy with me being out there (no points, the Lucas peeps just wanted to see the car run), so today I qualified, but went ahead and sat out for the main....I didn't want to ruffle any feathers....besides, the racing was awesome - glad I got to watch it!! :)
