In November 2011 Pro Armor made the decision to redesign the Slam Latch for Pro Armor RZR and RZR4 doors. We did so in the interest of constant product improvement and innovation as well as addressing reports that a small number of doors had opened. At that time not only did we stop sale of the original Slam Latch we also decided to consult legal counsel concerning the best course of action in launching the new design to the marketplace. We were advised to inform the Consumer Products Safety Commission to the number of incidents that were reported to us. In the best interest of our consumers we worked with the CPCS to implement a recall of the original style Slam Latch and provide a replacement with our newly designed Slam Latch. This latch was reviewed and tested by engineers at the CPSC to ensure the safe and consistent operation for our consumers. ffice:eek:ffice" />
We chose to go this route as a larger manufacturer in this country as we are required to follow rules, regulations and guidelines that ensure product safety. In this age of transparency it was wise for us to work with CPSC to ensure that the proper procedures concerning a recall were followed.
The decision to redesign the slam latch was ours alone. The process to finalize redesign, submit for testing and address the CPSC’s response to our proposed solution took longer than expected. Before alerting the marketplace of what we were doing we had to make sure we covered all our internal concerns as well and the CPSC’s requirements. We had our consumer’s best interest and safety at heart.
