Desert Molding Concepts, Inc. entered into a development program with R2C Performance Products some months ago with the goal to bring the most efficient highest quality filter to the RZR market. If you are not familiar with R2C, you soon will be. R2C has quietly been making in roads to the off road arena working directly with race teams to develop a highly efficient low restriction dry filter element that is nothing short of amazing. Not only is it amazing it is also completely serviceable, so it could quite possibly be the last filter you ever buy for you ride. Results of testing the factory XP1000 air filter proved an efficiency of only 98%. In comparison the R2C exceeds 99.97% this is even more efficient than what is currently being offered to the off road industry by any other company (That's Huge!). The parent company to R2C has a 65 year history of severe duty filtration in several arenas including the military. This extensive knowledge is now being applied to motorsports with phenomenal result.
Bottom Line.....
1. Engine protection is unmatched by any other filter currently being offered
2. Designed to shed dust cake while in use, (which mitigates restriction rise)
3. Excellent initial restriction performance
3. Dry element with no messy cleaning or oiling
4. Completely serviceable

After our review of the stock air filter and box there were two concerns that we wanted to address. The stock air filter is a slip fit radial seal design much like you would see for an on road application,( not great for an off road application). We added a large flange and clamping surface to the R2C filter for a positive connection to the intake tube.
Also the stock air filter is completely dependent on the lid of the air box to keep it in place. The clamps for the air box lid are weak at best, easy to bend out of shape and if not installed correctly can cause a potential problem, (lose the lid and you lose the filter). So we added a stud to the end of the filter much like you see on ATV's to positively support the end of the filter and completely eliminate the possibility of the filter being dislodged, (even if the lid is lost).

So if your looking for a highly efficient easy to service air filter for your XP1000, then look no further!

In stock, ready to ship!!!!

Very nice design.

How often do you have to replace this filter and how much?

Looks to be the same size as the stock filter so the same outerwear should fit.

Unlike the stock filter, once it gets dirty you throw it away an buy another one. The R2C is built for severe duty and longevity and can be serviced easily by tapping out the large particle and blowing it out with compressed air (60 to70psi) from the clean side out and your good to go. In extreme cases it can be washed with a soapy solution the rinsed from the inside out, let dry over night and reinstall it. By far the toughest easy to maintain filter we have ever used. No more worrying about damaging the pleats or over oiling those gauze type filters, not to mention the extra cost of the special cleaners and oils you need to maintain them.

Yes the R2C filter maintains the stock dimensions so using the Outerwear that is available for the stock filter will fit with no problem.

This is a much more cost effective alternative to having to replace the paper stock filter.

Give us a call 760-955-1409,

Thank you for your interest. This is a durable filter that you wont have to worry about replacing for quite awhile. R2C has some on sponsored race cars that haven't been replaced for a couple of years. Feel free to give us a call at 760-955-1409.

Thanks,

Mark

Have you considered working with the filter manufacture to build a better filter for the XP900? Something with a thicker proper lip for better sealing which would eliminate the use of having to add the filter gasket spacer or better yet grease on the filter gasket & filter housing!

The the fact you are using a paper type filter that is 99.7% efficient, that can be reused and does not require oil is awesome!

I know I would be in line for a better replacement filter for the XP900 factory air box.

Great! I look forward to finding out more about it when it's ready.

We are planning on doing a multi day trip in Baja late September and instead of bring the prerunners we have kicked around the idea of using the UTV's. A few hurdles we are looking at is fuel mileage, as we have always calculated 150-180 between fuel stops, and have even stretched it to 200 a few times. Another was the thought of servicing the air filter every night. Its not a big deal, but when you add the addition of greasing the filter lip & all , it becomes a PITA! If we had a filter that we could knock out 85% of the dirt and did not need grease or oil, then that would solve one issues right there.

You may also take a look at our double down package, with the super seal gasket and foam buddy not only will you have the additional filtration to extend the life of the filter, but you will have the additional seal around the air box instead of having to grease the air box lid. In addition our double down kit address the issue with tne negative pressure in the air box and gives you a little more hp through the power band. If you would like to discuss further feel free to give us a call at 760-955-1409.

Thanks

What exactly is the filter media? If paper, what makes it easier to tap out than a Donaldson?

Paper, gauze, or some new proprietary material?

It's a proprietary synthetic material. Designed to shed dust cake reducing restriction rise. R2C competes head to head with Donaldson and their Powercore filter does not provide the efficiency of the R2C. It is a super tough filter that is not easily damaged like a gauze filter and you don't have to buy expensive cleaners and oils to service it.

I bought one for the new 1000 and finally got around to installing it today.
Everything fit easily and worked as advertised.

Looks to be a quality piece in person...

I didn't have much faith in the stock filter staying sealed and this appears to solve that issue completely...
