Rusty we feel your pain. We too struggled with our fuel delivery system. I heard that many trucks and buggies had the same issue. We are on our way home, just a quick recap, We were 13th off the line, and the Commander was working great, picked up several positions, by pit 1 and kept moving forward up to pit 3. About 15 miles out, we lost fuel to the motor, coming to a stop, this begun our long day of trying to figure out why we were loosing pressure. We did all the same steps, checked filters, pickups, changed 2 pumps, and could not get the issue resolved. Would drive 1 mile and die. We figured out it was vapor locking due to the heat of the gas, and fuel pump mixed with the altitude. We had one section where we could not get the unit fuel, unless Brett blew into the vent hose to create additional pressure for over 10 miles. He is still feeling the effects of breathing in the gas.... We ended up using what we had to create a cooling system for our pump. Used a funnel and hose to connect from the passenger to the pump which we wrapped in towels, and then would carry 20- 30 water bottles and would dump them on the pump to keep the fuel cooler. We could then drive at about 50% We did this until night fall when we had cooler temps, and then could make up time. Other than this issue the Commander was awesome. The suspension, tires, motor etc were perfect. Not a single other issue on the UTV. We were glad to pull off the finish, even though it was not the way we had hoped. This course was extremely rocky and rough. Congrats to Jagged for pulling off another amazing win! Pics and video to follow.
