Barstow to Vegas 2013 Ride May 11th-12th

Trying to setup a run from Barstow to Vegas. Not sure about the exact weekend yet but lets see what kind of interest there is. I have a couple people in on the Rzr Forum. What date works for you guys?

The dates have been set. Sat May 11th-12th. Depart from Barstow and stay the night at Primm. Return ride for Sun May 12th. Please indicate if you are riding roundtrip or only one way. Most of the group if not all will be doing the roundtrip.

How long is the ride?
Rusty, I'd guess 5-? hours. It'd a LONG ride, but it is an awesome one to. If you can go, I'd say go. I've been through a lot of the scenery that way (lived in Barstow for 10 years) and I can say it'll be worth the effort.

I'm just wondering how the logistics go. Do we stage in Barstow and trailer back?

A little more logistics info would help.

Dan ...

i think staying at stateline overnight would be fun. I like the idea of a chase vehicle so that we can tow back to barstow the next day? What do you think? My friends would be able to do either way.

I have heard figure on 6 hours. Also you have no cell service out there. But you can get it you just have to get to the other side of the mountains (towards freeway). I to have wanted to do this ride but I want to do it on my dirt bike.

-Leave Saturday Morning Early around 8:30-9 from Slash X.
-Arrive to Primm anywhere from 3-4 pm
-Spend the night at Casino.
-Wake up with a hang over..lol

Directions:
From the Slash X parking lot you can see power lines off into the distance to your right, if you’re facing away from Slash X. You want to take that Powerline Road to Camp Rock Rd. Once you hit Camp Rock Rd turn left (north). Stay on Camp Rock Rd and go over the Hwy 40. After about a mile you will hit the wash. Turn right into the wash and ride the wash till you hit Minneola Rd. Turn left on Minneola Rd and go over the 15 Fwy. Stop at that gas station and fuel up because it’s that last fuel stop till Primm, NV. You could fuel in Baker, Ca but it’s kind of out of the way. After you make the pit stop head out behind the gas station and hit Powerline Rd. That’s it! Once you’re on Powerline Rd, you’re golden. Depending on your time constraints you can make multiple stops on the way to enjoy a tasty beverage.

The ATV club i am a member of in Vegas has started tossing around the idea of doing Big Bear to Stateline. Nothing set at this point, but it is something that some guys want to try.

I've done this trip 6 times already. I've left from slash x to stateline & i've left from minneola road to stateline. Minneola road is much easier & way less issues since you don't have to cross the 40 freeway. I've never ran into to a cop or chp but I'm thinking they would cause a issue. At minneola road we have left our truck & trailers there for over 2 nights & our stuff has never been messed with. Bring a spare belt & tire. I've done this trip in 8 hours the longest & 2.5 hours the shortest just depends on how fast you wanna go. Let me know when your plan on going. I want to go. Plus I always ride back. Thanks.
