If you’ve seen the Red Bull Scramble Series, you know that it’s a racing series unlike any other. The UTVs that take part in it race everywhere from beaches to mountains, dunes to farmland, and just about anything in between. Such a versatile championship requires a versatile boot to go along with it, and that’s where the Wolverine x Red Bull Scramble Series Rush UltraSpring Boot comes in. Entering their second year with the series, Wolverine has dropped a limited edition boot that reflects both the ruggedness and aesthetic of the championship just in time for next month’s season-opening Sand Scramble in Glamis.

Wolverine is no stranger to collaborations, including another recent one with the Halo franchise, and each of them marries Wolverine durability to the partner brand’s aesthetic. The Red Bull Scramble Series collaboration is no exception, with bold colors to reflect the series branding as the first thing you’ll notice out of the box. Mostly dark blue with hints of white, red, and yellow, they’ll definitely stand out in a crowd ahead of your next race.

But a series with such demanding and diverse terrain requires a boot that’s up for the task, and don’t be fooled—there’s plenty of substance on hand. Wolverine has been working closely with Scramble Series drivers and Red Bull athletes, including defending series champion Mia Chapman, to make sure these boots can withstand everything the championship can throw at them. That’s why the collaboration is based on the Rush UltraSpring boot—it’s one of Wolverine’s lightest boots ever, and the UltraSpring midsole gives the wearer the bounce-back and energy return to keep them moving quickly all day.

Beyond that, the boot is equipped with breathable WaterproofPlus membrane and moisture-wicking mesh lining to keep you dry and comfortable, a CarbonMAX® composite toe for additional protection, and a durable rubber lug outsole to grip any terrain. In short, it’s got everything you want from a boot to keep your feet comfortable and protected to go along with style that can take on any other type of footwear in the eye test—the best of both worlds!

My pair of Wolverine x Red Bull Scramble Series Rush UltraSpring Boots arrived here in Massachusetts just in time for what we thought was going to be a mammoth storm. The snow didn’t quite hit as advertised, but that was still enough to take them out for a quick spin and see how they held up in the snow and cold. As a born-and-raised New Englander, our mindset up here is that if something can handle our winters, it can handle just about anything!

Wearing these boots is exactly as advertised: they’re light and comfortable enough that it’s easy to forget that you’re wearing something equipped to handle so much. But I didn’t have to think twice about what I was wearing or where I was walking. And with that New England bias firmly in place, having that level of confidence in these boots on snow and ice makes me feel like any other terrain—rocks, sand, mud, you name it—will be a breeze. Just like the event it pays homage to, the Wolverine x Red Bull Scramble Series Rush UltraSpring Boot is built to take on whatever you can throw at it, and look damn good while doing it.

The Wolverine x Red Bull Scramble Series Rush UltraSpring Boot retails for $174.95 and is available at wolverine.com. Additional apparel is also available while supplies last.

Thank you to Wolverine for providing us with a complimentary pair of boots to try out for the article!
